Community rules
PurpleUp.vote is a nonpartisan civic project. The forum is for verified voters to share thoughts on how Congress should be seated. Here's how we keep it safe and useful.
The short version
- Be civil. Disagree without name-calling.
- Every comment is public and stays public. There are no private messages.
- No links, phone numbers, addresses, or personal contact info.
- No threats, slurs, or calls to violence.
- You stay anonymous as “Voter #abc123”.
Who can post
Only voters who've cast a verified vote on PurpleUp.vote can comment. We check the email you submit against the verified-vote roll — we never display your email publicly. Cast a vote first, then come back to the forum.
What you can't post
The forum auto-rejects content that contains any of these. If your comment is blocked, you'll see a one-line message telling you what to fix.
- Links of any kind.No URLs, no “dot com” workarounds. If you want to point to something, describe it.
- Personal contact info.Phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, P.O. boxes — yours or anyone else's.
- Identity numbers. Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, anything that looks like ID.
- Threats or calls to violence. Against individuals, groups, public officials, anyone.
- Slurs and hate speech. Targeting race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or disability.
- Spam, scams, or drug-selling. Including crypto giveaways, miracle-cure pitches, etc.
- All-caps or repeated-character spam. Just type normally.
What gets you moderated
Some content gets through the filter but still crosses the line. Our community ambassadors can hide comments that:
- Attack other commenters personally
- Are deliberately off-topic or trolling
- Misrepresent another voter or impersonate a politician
- Repeatedly violate other rules
Hidden comments stay in our records (so we know what was moderated and why) but disappear from the public list.
How appeals work
If a comment of yours is hidden and you think it shouldn't have been, write to vote@purpleup.votewith the date, time, and what you posted. We'll review and respond — usually within a day.
Ambassadors
Our forum is moderated by community ambassadors — verified voters who've been invited to help keep the discussion safe and on-topic. Ambassadors can hide rule-breaking comments and warn users. Repeat offenders can be banned from posting.
Ambassadors don't pick sides on the seating question itself. Their job is conduct, not viewpoint.
Privacy
Your email is used to verify you're a voter and is never shown to other commenters. Your display name is a stable but anonymous identifier — same voter, same label. Don't share your own personal info in comments either, even if you want to. Once it's out there, it's out there.
